Catherine is the founder of Blu Iris Counseling and a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Georgia and Colorado. She is known for creating a therapeutic space rooted in warmth, creativity, and the belief that healing is always possible. Catherine works with adults and adolescents navigating substance use and complex trauma, offering trauma-informed care that honors each person’s resilience and story. She earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Georgia and her MA in Marriage & Family Therapy, with a certification in trauma, from Richmont Graduate University. Jasmine graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Criminal Justice and Sociology from the University of Georgia. She then received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia and obtained her Substance Use Counseling Certificate. Jasmine’s primary counseling experience lies with adults who have intellectual delays with co-existing mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. Professionally, Jasmine has also worked with the geriatric and aging population, as well as children going through the DFCS process. Jasmine works with individuals to develop healthy coping skills, understand internal body cues for emotions, and address various behaviors. She enjoys implementing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) based techniques through talk-therapy as well as other evidence-based therapeutic approaches with clients, while integrating art and music into sessions. Jasmine has been in Athens for about ten years and calls it home now. This is where she met her fiancé and found her love for counseling. When in undergraduate, Jasmine volunteered on a crisis line for sexual assault and children’s abuse where she decided that after undergraduate, she would go back to school to better understand how to work with individuals who have experienced trauma. Through her professional history in working with the community through case management roles, she is well versed in supportive service and resources within in the community. When not at work, Jasmine enjoys spending time with her fiancé and five animals. She loves the outdoors including hiking and traveling to various national parks.
